Gangnam Style VS Call Me Maybe?
Both Gangnam Style singer PSY and Call Me artist Carly Rae Jepsen performed their pop culture phenomenas at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, and both songs have been covered by a slew of celebrities including Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, the women of The View and the list goes on...
There was even made a mashup of the tracks.
Take a look at the original videos for the songs that took the web by storm and let us know which one you think made the biggest impression on pop culture this year: Call Me Maybe or Gangnam Style?

Video: Going Gangnam style for Ai Weiwei
Psy, the Korean singer and Gangnam style video made tons of hits on YouTube. According to Telegraph, Gangnam style video has reached over 750 millions views, breaked the record Justin Bieber on YouTube.
Even Ai Weiwei, the not-exactly-incarcerated-but-pretty-much-under-house-arrest Chinese artist, posted his own ‘Gangnam Style’ video on the internet. It featured him in handcuffs and was promptly banned by the Chinese authorities.
So, in the heady rush of all things Gangnam, it’s pleasing to see the great and the good of the international art world doing their Gangnam bit in aid of Ai.
Commissioned by Amnesty International and choreographed by British dance wonder Akram Khan, 250 art-worlders, led by Sir Anish Kapoor, Gangnam their way through Psy’s song and writhe around in handcuffs. On the wall behind them, the names of dissidents, Pussy Riot among them, are written.
Kapoor is quoted as saying: "Our film aims to make a serious point about freedom of speech and freedom of expression. It is our hope that this gesture of support for Ai Weiwei and all prisoners of conscience will be wide-ranging and will help to emphasise how important these freedoms are to us all."
Ai Weiwei in his own Gangnam Style video.
And it’s interesting to see how a Korean pop song with banal lyrics about sexy ladies and knowing men, that invokes the name of a high-class Seoul district, has pressed people into action. It probably won’t convert any Chinese officials, but like the vast ‘RELEASE AI WEIWEI’ sign that was placed on top of Tate Modern in 2011, it will certainly be seen by an awful lot of people.
Gangnam Style Psy to break Justin Bieber's YouTube record
Gangnam Style Psy is on the verge of overtaking Justin Beiber's track Baby as the most-watched video ever on YouTube.
At time of writing, the Korean pop Gangnam Style Psy mega hit had accumulated almost 795 million views since it was posted on 15 July this year. Baby, which has been available since February 2010, had 803 million views.
With Gangnam Style attracting about 11 million views per day compared to Bieber's one million, it is due to take the crown this weekend.
The song, which pokes fun at the fashion-conscious denizens of a wealthy district of Seoul, has powered its singer, Psy, to global stardom. An array of public figures including the sculptor Anish Kapoor, Zara Phillips and Ban Ki Moon have copied his "horse riding" dance.
In October Gangnam Style Psy also became the first Korean song to top the official UK pop chart. The Gangnam Style video on YouTube reached over 7 millions views only after 2 weeks on July, the clip had been posted on YouTube.
Jespite their YouTube rivalry, since achieving stardom in the West, Psy has reportedly signed up with Justin Bieber's management company and said the pair will work on a song together. "Gangnam style" and "Gangnam style Psy" are becoming the words which people interested in searching on Internet most.

Gangnam Style YouTube video: The story behind the American Music Awards

We should've known something was up when Psy took the stage at the "American Music Awards" in a pair of Hammer pants.
The "Gangnam Style" artist had the AMAs audience on their feet doing his trademark dance when the lights suddenly dimmed and MC Hammer appeared on stage - still "Too Legit to Quit."
Younger viewers might've been a little lost when Psy stopped and went Hammer-time, as the "Too Legit" single came out just over 20 years ago. But, as the YouTube clip above proves, Hammer hasn't lost his touch.

Backstage, Hammer told CNN that the performance came together with the aid of Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun.
"Scooter Braun connected us, and [when] I spoke with Psy I knew right away that he is a good guy. I like working with good people ... I loved doing it and we had a great time together," Hammer said.
"Psy is fantastic. He's shifted the planet. He's got the whole world dancing. And it's a rarity in this world. Only four people made that happen in history - James Brown, Michael Jackson, yours truly and Psy. "
Psy, who even convinced Hammer into pulling on his trademark pants once again, didn't have any nerves about hitting the old-school routine.
"Honestly, I practiced his move[s] 20 years ago," Psy said. "So I've done that for 20 years."

Video: Damian Lewis on Gangnam Style
Among Jonathan Ross‘ guests was Korean pop star Psy, so of course Jonathan asked the others if they would attempt the “Gangnam Style” dance. First off, I adore the way that the British Damian scoffs, “Gangnam?”, sounding just like a character out of Dracula Dead and Loving It.
But then he gets up and does the dance—and nails it. Seriously, I didn’t think a white guy could be that on-point. The blonde next to him is doing the half-assed Britney Spears version where she has her wrists one on top of the other, but Damian looks like he spent hours watching the video and practicing in the mirror.
'Gangnam Style' Psy teases Justin Bieber collaboration
The South Korean popstar - who shot to international fame earlier this year with 'Gangnam Style' - confirmed that he has been in discussions with the teen idol about a potential duet.
"Yeah, so we have a plan to do something together later but we doesn't have any details yet. But, sure – we gonna do some work later on," Psy told Capital FM.
Asked what he thinks the reaction to the collaboration would be like, he replied: "I mean of course you know, hundreds of millions combined [views of their videos] on YouTube – it's gonna explode, right?"
In September, Psy was signed to Schoolboy Records in America, which was founded by Bieber's manager Scooter Braun back in 2007.
Psy won 'Best Video' at the MTV EMAs 2012 on the weekend, while Bieber walked away with 'Best Male', 'Best Pop' and 'Best World Stage'.
