Best Apple Offers and Deals – and iPhone 5S Rumors

Here are the best Apple offers and discounts on iPhones, MacBooks and iMacs – and iPhone 5S buzz.

To find the best Apple offers and deals, you don't have to join the scrum at Apple's flagship NYC Fifth Avenue store – but try to check out the crowds there late Christmas Eve if you're in town.


Believe it or not, the rumor mill for the iPhone 5S has already begun to grind. What will Apple add in it's bi-annual iPhone mini-upgrade, and when?
Some speculators speculate Apple will add NFC (Near Field Communications) capabilities (one model too late, in my view) like those found in the Samsung Galaxy S III and a growing number of phones.
Another added iPhone 5S benefit may be "super" HD video recording – I assume this means 1440p pixel resolution rather than plain old 1080p resolution.
Others conjecturers hypothesize iPhone 5S will finally be available in colors other than white and black ala the new Windows Phone 8 handsets such as the Nokia Lumia 920 andApple's own iPod Touch.
IMHO, none of these "improvements" will be worth the upgrade. The only way I'd re-up is if iPhone 5S had at least a 4.5-inch display, offered 128 GB of memory and a Maps app that accurately placed places, labeled NYC subway line stops and accurately rendered landmarks – all for the same price as the current 64 GB model. Fat chance all (or any) of these updates being added, but a boy can dream.
When will the iPhone 5S appear? New iPhones have launched in the fall the last few years, but the rumor mill posits the 5S will appear in June. I'd be disappointed if it came so soon if the current features-added rumors are even close to the eventual mark.
But that's then and this is now and there's less than two weeks of shopping until you-know-what. And believe it or not, there are Apple offers and deals and specials to be found on iPhone 5 and other Apple products.

For instance, Best Buy has sliced $50 off all iPhone 5 models it carries.
The catch is you will have to go to a store to pick it up – no online ordering.
But if you're serious about getting the best price on other Apple gear, the folks at AppleInsider have assembled the ultimate price comparison guide for MacBook laptops and iMac desktop PCs.
The site lays out a grid with prices on a host of Apple gear – but not iPads or iPad minis – indicating the best price and deepest possible discount.

If it's not discounts but the in-store experience that opens the spigot on your adrenaline juices, and you live in or plan to be in New York City for the holidays, wander over the flagship Apple store on Fifth Avenue between 58th and 59th streets around 11pm or later.
Since it's open 24/7/366 (2012's a leap year, remember?), this Apple store is the only retailer open late Christmas Eve. Wander up Fifth Avenue past the closed ritzy stores and the Saks windows and then gawk at or join the crowds trying to jam themselves into the iconic glass-cubed wonderland for some last-minute shopping. It's a scene to be seen and to be seen in. Then wander across to the Plaza for a nightcap to feel how it feels to be one of the beautiful people.
